How to get there

From Greece there are direct flights to Moscow, leaving from Athens, the schedule is operated by Aeroflot. From Thessaloniki and other Greek cities (Heraklion, Chania, Rhodes, Corfu, Ioannina, Alexandroupolis) there are connecting flights via Athens or through some European capitals. Airports
Moscow has 3 airports, Domodedovo Airport, Sheremetyevo Airport Vnukovo Airport. The airports serve international flights and are modern establishments with many facilities for the travelers. The airports have storage rooms for luggage, exchange offices, ATM machines, post offices, pay phones, coffee shops, restaurants, shops, information desks, travel agencies and of course ticket desks for flight reservations.  


Domodedovo International Airport

Domodedovo airport is the busiest airport in Moscow. It is located 22 kilometres from the city’s centre and it serves international and domestic flights. The transfer from the airport to the centre of the city is easily done with the means of public transport that have services from and to Domodedovo.


Trains

Trains connect the airport with Moscow and they begin operating at 05:10 and stop at 23:10. There is a train every hour from the airport to Paveletskaya, Moscow’s central metro station. The journey of the express train lasts 40 minutes and the ticket costs 25.60 Russian rubles, whereas the journey of the regular train lasts 70 minutes and the ticket costs from 12.80 to 19.80 Russian rubles, depending on the final destination.


Buses

The 405 bus connects the airport with the nearest metro station (Domodedovskaya) and there is a bus every 10-15 minutes. The journey lasts approximately 40 minutes and the ticket costs 4 rubles. Domodedovo Express buses have a service from 06:00 until 23:00 from the airport to Domodedovskaya metro station and the buses depart every 45-60 minutes. The journey lasts 30 minutes and the ticket costs 25 rubles. Moreover the Domodedovo Express line connects the airport with the Aeroport metro station in Moscow. This line departs from the airport every 30 minutes from 05:45 until 23:45 and the ticket costs 25 rubles.


Taxi   

If you choose a taxi for your transport from the airport to Moscow make sure it is a legal taxi and negotiate the price before entering it. Although you should bare in mind that taxis can cost a lot.


Sheremetyevo Airport

Sheremetyevo airport is located 30 kilometres from the center of Moscow and it has 2 terminals. Terminal 2 is only used for international flights. Travellers can use the buses that make a stop at the airport or a taxi in order to transfer to the center of Moscow.


Buses

Bus lines 851 and 817 have routes from the airport to Moscow’s central metro stations (stations Rechnoi Vokzal and Planernaya respectively). The journey roughly lasts 45-50 minutes, the buses leave every 10-15 minutes and the ticket costs 4 rubles. Sheremetyevo Express bus connects the airport with Rechnoi Vokzal metro station and a bus departs every 20 minutes from 07:30 until 21:30. The journey lasts around 25 minutes.


Taxi

Although there are available taxis outside the airport make sure that you choose an official taxi and negotiate the price before you enter it. The journey by taxi could cost many rubles.

Vnukovo Airport

Vnukovo airport serves a few international flights and it is located 11 kilometres from the center of Moscow.


Buses

Bus line 611 operates from the airport to Moscow’s metro station, Yugo-Zapadnaja, every 10-15 minutes. The journey lasts 30 minutes and the ticket costs 4 rubles. Vnukovo Express bus has services from the airport to Yugo-Zapadnaja metro station from 07:00 until 21:00 every 20 minutes. The journey lasts 25 minutes and the ticket costs 10 rubles. Also, Vnukovo Express bus with destination to Aeroport metro station has services from 07:00 until 21:00 every 20 minutes. The journey lasts 80 minutes and the ticket costs 20 rubles.


Taxi

You will definitely find a taxi outside the airport but you must negotiate the price before you board it. The distance from the airport to the city is not long but it can cost a lot.
