Cyprus has 2 airports, Larnaka International Airport and Paphos Airport. Larnaca is in the south-eastern side of Cyprus whereas Paphos is in the south-western side of the island. Both airports have modern equipment, European standards, innumerable shops, duty free, restaurants, cafeterias, payphones, ATM machines, exchange offices, travel agencies and of course ticket desks for air tickets.

Larnaca International Airport

Larnaca’s airport which started operating recently and replaced the old airport in Larnaca is located 5 kilometres from the city of Larnaca, 46 kilometres from Agia Napa, 49 kilometres from the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia, 70 kilometres from Limassol and 139 kilometres from Paphos. The island’s new highway makes the transport from the airport to all the cities easy and fast. There is not a great public transport system on the island, but measures are being taken for its improvement.

Buses 22 and 23 depart daily from the airport to the center of Larnaca, from 07:55 until 12:55 every hour and afterwards from 15:55 until 16:55. The ticket costs €1.20 and it can be purchased from the bus driver.

The intercity buses that connect the airport with the island’s cities cost €7 and depart from the airport from Monday to Friday. There are services for Agia Napa at 09:40 and at 14:40. There are services for Nicosia at 06:25, 08:40, 10:40, 12:40, 14:10 and at 15:40. There are services for Limassol at 07:40, 09:40, 12:40 and at 16:10.

Due to the fact that the buses on the island are limited the transfer from the airport to various regions of Cyprus is easier by taxi. There are 24-hours a day available taxis outside the airport. The transport from the airport to Larnaca can cost €15 and the journey lasts 15 minutes, whereas the transport from the airport to Agia Napa can cost €35 and the journey lasts 30 minutes. The transport from the airport to Nicosia can cost €30 and the journey lasts 50 minutes. The transport from the airport to Limassol can cost €40 and the journey lasts 40 minutes. The transport from the airport to Paphos can cost €75 and the journey lasts 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Paphos International Airport
Paphos’s airport is located 15 kilometres from the center of Paphos, 142 kilometres from Agia Napa, 146 kilometres from Nicosia, 63 kilometres from Limassol and 129 kilometres from Larnaca.

Although there is a bus that has a service from the airport to the center of Paphos, its itineraries are not known. The journey to the center of Paphos is around 15-20 minutes.

There are always parked taxis outside the airport, ready to transfer you anywhere you want on the island. Most people chose the taxi as their means of transport because the buses in Cyprus are not very reliable. Keep in mind your that in Cyprus there are certain interurban taxis, that are bigger in size, with seats for 7 people, and which offer transfer wherever you wish in the big cities of the island during the day.
