How to get there
There are direct flights from Greece to Sofia only from Athens, the schedule is operated by Aegean, Olympic Air and Bulgaria Air. From other Greek cities there are connecting flights to Sofia via Athens. From Cyprus there are also direct flights form Larnaca, the schedule is operated by Cyprus Airways and Bulgaria Air. Sofia Airport -
Sofia’s airport is located only 5 kilometres from the center of the city and it serves innumerable international flights daily. The airport has 2 terminals that are connected with a free of charge bus. At Sofia’s airport there are banks, ATM machines, exchange offices, a post, shops, duty free shops, snack bars, cafeterias, restaurants, wireless internet access, storage room for luggage, first aid, travel agencies and of course ticket desks for air tickets . The transfer to central Sofia is easy and fast since the airport is not located far from the city centre.
Buses
Public buses 84 (bus stop at terminal 1) and 284 (bus stop terminal 2) have services from the airport to the center of the city (University Sofia). The journey lasts approximately 20 minutes depending on the traffic in the streets and the ticket costs 1 lev (0.50 €). Tickets can be purchased from the various kiosks. Both buses have regular and frequent services during the day. Bus 30 connects the 2 terminals with the center of the city. The ticket costs 1.50 lev (0.75€) and it also has regular services
Taxi
The taxi is definitely the easiest way to transfer from the airport to the center of Sofia. There are always available taxis outside the 2 airpoort terminals and the journey can cost 8 to 10 lev. If you choose a taxi, make sure that it is a legal taxi before you board.
