Madrid is an astonishing European capital; it is a place full of life which has many pleasures, sights, monuments and museums to offer to the visitors. Madrid has combined its rich heritage and history with the modern reality and the result is truly wonderful. There are many airlines that have a direct flights to Madrid, so hurry up, book your flight and travel to this beautiful city.    

How to get there

There are direct flights from Greece to Madrid from Athens. From Thessaloniki and other Greek cities there are connecting flights with Aegean Airlines via Athens. From Cyprus there is also a connecting flight from Larnaca to Madrid via Athens, the service is operated by Aegean. The airlines that carry out flights to Madrid are Aegean, Iberia and Vueling, more specifically:

When making plans for a holiday trip to Madrid it is better to make a reservation as soon as possible in order to find cheaper air tickets. Many airlines promote cheap flights and announce special air ticket offers for reservations made 1 or 2 months prior the departure.

Airport
Madrid International Airport – Madrid Barajas which is in operation since 1928 is nowadays a modern airport, located 13 kilometers northeast of central Madrid.  Travelers and visitors can find everything they might need at the airport in order to travel comfortably and pleasantly. The services and the amenities of the airport include banks, ATM machines, shops, restaurants, cafeterias, chapels, a post office, pharmacies, spa and Turkish bath facilities, travel agencies and of course ticket desks for flight reservations (for air tickets).


Trains

You can use the metro which is located in terminals 2 and 4 and transfer fast and comfortably to Madrid. The ticket costs €2.00 (from the airport) and there is a train from 06:00 until 02:00 every 5 minutes.


Line 8 (pink line) goes directly to Nuevos Ministerios station in central Madrid and the journey lasts approximately 15 minutes. At Nuevos Ministarios you can change trains and transfer to your final destination.  


Buses

There are buses that have a route from Madrid International Airport to the city’s centre. There is also an airport bus for your transfer from one terminal to the other.

Line 204 makes a stop at terminal 4 and its final stop is at central Madrid, Avenida de America, from where you can use the metro for your final destination.

Line 200 makes stops at terminals 1 and 2 and again its final stop is at central Madrid, Avenida de America, from where you can use the metro for your final destination.

Buses depart every 10 minutes and have a route from 06:00 until 23:30. The ticket costs €1.


Taxi

There are many taxis outside the airport’s terminals and if you choose one for your transfer make sure you have chosen a legal car. The journey to central Madrid, depending on the traffic, lasts approximately half an hour. The price varies depending on the traffic and the duration of the drive but you can estimate around   

€20 – 25. The taxi flag fall at €1.85 and there is €5 extra charge for picking you up from the airport. There is not though extra charge for luggage.
