Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a big city in the United States of America and it is considered to be the capital of entertainment, of the entire world. The film industry blooms in Los Angeles and we should not forget that the famous area of Hollywood is located there, filled with theatres and production studios. This beautiful city is divided in various areas and neighborhoods that are named after the immigrants’ origins. Visitors can actually spend days in the city without seeing and experiencing everything Los Angeles has to offer. Apart from the famous Universal Studios, Disneyland and of course Hollywood which you can visit and admire there are also other important places in Los Angeles such as the well known Getty Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Natural History. Magic Mountain is another theme park, located in Los Angeles that will definitely excite both children and adults. The famous street in Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive has countless spectacular shops for those who wish to shop whereas Venice Beach offers and organized beach with an ocean view for swimming and sea sports.

Walking along the city you can bump into one of your favorite Hollywood actors something which is completely normal for the residents. In the evening Los Angeles is filled with lights and glamour; the theatres, the restaurants and the clubs are packed with people. All you have to do is book now a flight to the sensational city of Los Angeles and experience holidays as if you were a movie star.

How to get there

From Greece and Cyprus there are not direct flights to Los Angeles, the best option is a connecting flight through a European capital or through New York. The airlines that carry out connecting flights from Greece and Cyprus to Los Angeles are: Delta, Swiss, British Airways, Lufthansa, Flybmi, more specifically:

Los Angeles Airports
There are 5 airports in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles International Airport, Bob Hope Airport, Ontario Airport, John Wayne Airport and Long Beach Airport. They are all modern and fully equipped with services and facilities. Apart from Los Angeles International Airport that facilitates most international flights the other 4 mainly serve domestic flights. Lately Ontario Airport is beginning to have the infrastructure for international flights and maybe it will become a very busy airport in the next years.

Los Angeles International Airport (IATA: LAX)
Los Angeles International Airport is located 24 kilometres from Los Angeles, California and it is one of the busiest airports of the world. It serves innumerable international and domestic flights on a daily basis and it has 9 terminals. At the airports premises there are many restaurants, cafeterias, bars, shops, ATM machines, storage rooms for luggage, information desks, travel agencies and of course ticket desks for flight reservations. The transfer from the airport to the centre of the city is easily and comfortably done via public transport that has regular schedules.

Bus

The airport’s terminals are connected via a free shuttle bus (LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections) that runs a 24 hour service, every 15 minutes and their stop is outside every terminal. Bus line G -LAX Shuttle has a service from the airport to the metro station Green Line Aviation from where you can catch a train to your final destination.  

Bus line C - LAX Shuttle has a service to the city’s central bus station from where you can catch a bus to your final destination. There are of course various other bus companies that have services towards the city’s centre, with regular schedules during the day and the night. Make sure though to choose a reliable company for your transfer such as Chequer Shuttle, Inland Express, Xpress Shuttle, Prime Time Shuttle, Roadrunner Shuttle, Shuttle,One and SuperShuttle. The ticket for the city’s centre costs $25.

Taxi
Taxis are always available outside the airport’s terminals. Keep in mind though that the official taxis must have the legal seal of the Ministry of Transport. The journey by taxi to the centre of the city lasts 30 minutes, depending on the traffic, and it can cost $35.
