Lisbon (Lisboa)

How to get there

From Greece there are not direct flights to Lisbon. The best choice from Athens and Thessaloniki is a flight with Iberia via Madrid or a flight with Swiss via Zurich. Aegean airlines in cooperation with TAP and Lufthansa offers also connecting cheap flights. From Cyprus there are also no direct flights to Lisbon, the best option are flights with  Lufthansa via Frankfurt. The airlines that carry out connecting flights to Lisbon are Aegean, Swiss, Lufthansa and Tap more specifically:

Airport

Portela Lisbon Airport is located in Lisbon, just 7 kilometres from the center of city. It is a modern airport with many services and comforts for the travellers. At Lisbon airport there is a bank, a post office, exchange offices, restaurants, cafeterias, snack bars, innumerable shops, duty free shops, storage room for luggage, information offices, travel agencies and of course ticket desks for air tickets. The airport has 2 terminals that are connected with the airport’s free of charge bus. The transport from the airport to the city is easy and incredibly fast by public transport since the airport is so close to the city.


Buses

Carris AeroBus 91 coaches have services from the airport (100 meters from arrivals’ terminal) to the center of the city every 20 minutes from 07:40 until 20:45. Carris 5 have services every 15 minutes from the airport to the city, except weekends, while Carris 22 have services from the airport to the city every 15-30 minutes from 06:25 until 21:30. Carris 44 have daily services from 05:40 until 20:40 every 10-20 minutes, while Carris 45 have services from 05:05 to 00:00 every 10-20 minutes. (At weekends the first service begins 1-hour later). Carris 83 have services every 10-20 minutes from 06:55 until 20:15, except weekends. Carris 208 night buses have services from 00:00 until 02:30 every 30 minutes, from the 02:30 until 04:30 every 1 hour and from 04:30 until 06:00 every 30 minutes. These buses make stops at central points of the city (Entrecampos, Campo Pequeno, Avenida Republica, Saldanha, Picoas, Fontes Pereira Melo, Marquês de Pombal, Avenida da Libertade, Restauradores, Rossio, Praça do Comercio and Cais do Sodré) and also in front of various hotels. There is a screen in every bus that shows the next stop.

The journey lasts 20-40 minutes depending on the traffic. The ticket costs €1.30 and it can be purchased inside the bus. Keep in mind that with €3.50 you can buy a daily ticket for buses and trams.


Taxi

There are available taxis 24 hours a day outside Lisbon’s airport that are obliged to have a taximeter. Taxis are definitely the fastest way to transfer to the centre of the city and they do not cost more than € 20-25.
